Potential Research Topics (Animal Abuse/ Experimentation)

1. Animal Abuse/ Experimentation-
One of the research topics I am interested in is animal abuse.  I love animals and would love to help stop animal abuse.  By focusing on this topic I can help find ways to stop animal abuse.  There are many animals being abused and it is unfair that they cant fight back.  I want to fight for them no one should ever be beaten up for doing nothing. This deals with physical abuse experimentation and much more.

Summary:  This reading is about animal experimentation and how it is unfair to the animals.  In April 2011 Maria Cantwell introduced an act.  The act was called the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Ac.  If the act is passed then it will prohibit researchers to experiment on apes, gorillas and much more for medical research.

Two Details:
The making of the act would make the Secretary of Health and Human Services to have to retire all chimpanzees in the custody of federal government.

The idea for the act was help make funds within the Department of the Treasury to help construct, maintain, and operate sanctuary facilities for the great ape population which will be retired from research.

Questions:

What has happened with the great ape population that made Maria Cantwell want to make an act to protect apes?

When the act is passed would apes population begin to increase?

A word I don't understand: Biomedical Research

What is stoping you from understanding the word: I heard about the word in science class but don't know the actual definition.

Definition: The application of the natural sciences, especially the biological and physiological sciences, to clinical medicine.

Questions you can pose to peers in discussion: Would you try and help great apes population increase with the help of the act?

  1. I see you love animals from your choice of these two topics. I do too! I have four rescued dogs and one rescued cat.
